Plackmeyer, Charles Homer age 106, of St. Charles, Missouri died peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2011. Mr. Plackmeyer was born in Moberly, Mo. in 1904. After 51 years of service, he retired in 1983 from Rauch Lumber Company where he was sales manager. He was also manager of Rauch Development Company and responsible for developing subdivisions in St. Charles. He served as president of the Kiwanis Club of St. Charles, on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner of the St. Charles Public Housing Authority, Commissioner of the St. Charles Land Clearance for Redevelopment, on the board of the Industrial Development Corporation, and Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. In 1963, he was named Man of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. He served as a trustee of the First United Methodist Church and was Chairman of the Building Committee when the Church was built on First Capitol Drive. In his youth, Mr. Plackmeyer played semi-pro baseball in St. Louis. He was an avid golfer and a sports enthusiast all his life. He was the husband of the late Helen Dolphus Plackmeyer and father of the late Jerry Plackmeyer. He is survived by a daughter, Diana (Charles) Thomas of Chesterfield, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
