Charles “Chuck” O. Wilber, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at the age of 78. He was the husband of Dorothy (nee Schulte) Wilber for 52 years. He is survived by his wife, his daughter Dawn (Mike) Janes, his son Zachary (Amanda) Wilber, and granddaughters, Mackenzie & Kennedy Janes and Raegan & Sawyer Wilber, his sister Pat (Deb) Wilber and brother Del (Julie) Wilber. He loved his grandchildren dearly. Chuck grew up in Dardenne, MO to Loyd and Arthelia (Roques) Wilber. He was one of 6 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian Wilber, and his brothers Bob, Richard, and Jerry Wilber.
Chuck was a talented baseball player in his youth; nicknamed the Dardenne Flash. After trying out for the Cardinals and Pirates, he was drafted into the Vietnam War. Chuck proudly served 4 years in the US. Navy as a radar operator on the carrier USS Bennington. He briefly attended Northeast Missouri State University.
Chuck worked at Coca Cola for 36 years as a forklift driver. He was a volunteer firefighter for the City of St. Paul as well as a member of the KCs and VFW. He was a founding member of the Hackmann Road Gang, the famous slow pitch softball team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes and golf. He loved spending time with family and friends while having a beer or a bourbon or two. He enjoyed family vacations out west and to the beach. He was very loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to any local organization of the donor’s choosing.
