Cherry Elaine Sanders, 64, born August 13, 1941 in Sikeston, Missouri, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Calera Hogue Lopp, died peacefully at her home in St. Charles on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, following her valiant battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Sikeston High School, Class of 1965, where she was both a cheerleader and member of Red Peppers. She was deeply grateful for the marvelous manner in which her classmates, despite the distance separating them, rallied around her in so many ways during her lengthy illness. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of God, where she was active in the music and youth programs until her move to St. Louis in the early 1980s. She later became a member of First Baptist of Harvester, St. Charles County. During her career, she was employed by Emerson Electric in St. Louis and later went on to obtain her realtor's license and worked most recently for Coldwell Banker Gundaker. Survivors include her son, Jeremy Thomas Sanders, of Austin, TX and his fiancée, Brandee Morris; three brothers, Ted (Louise) Lopp of New Albany, IN, Jack (Judy) Lopp of Sikeston, and Dan (Pam) Lopp of Acworth, GA; two sisters, Bonnie Noles of Bloomfield, and Brenda (Robert) Crawford of Houston, TX; many nieces and nephews including her loving nephew and niece, Mark and Sheila Noles of Winfield, MO, and friend, Paul McAllister, all of whom cared for her so lovingly during her final days on this Earth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: The Make A Wish Foundation, 1324 N. Rock Hill Road, St. Louis, MO 63124.
