Chester “Chet” Frank Mika, Jr., of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 58 years to Judith Mika; cherished son of the late Helen and Chester Mika, Sr.; devoted father of Christine (Jonathan) Neuman and Martin Mika; loving grandfather of Alyssa (Ryan Philpot) Barnes, Kaitlyn Barnes, Jonathan Barnes, Alexandria Barnes, and Andrew Barnes; and dear brother of the late Ronald Mika.
Chet proudly served in the United States Air Force where he earned a good conduct medal. He went on to work as an aircraft technician for 31 years with Ozark, TWA, and American Airlines where he was well respected by both authority and peers. As a man with an extremely strong work ethic, he accumulated many, many years of perfect attendance. Chet was a member of the American Legion Post 312, The Knights of Columbus, Marymount High School Class of 1959 Alumni Association, and the Ozark Airlines Silver Swallows Alumni Association. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and a dedicated member of the Polish American Society as well as Saint Stanislaus Kostka Polish Catholic Parish. Chet loved to spend time on the river boating with family and friends and was the owner of CB’s Boat Club. In his free time, Chet liked working with model trains and antique cars, playing in the stock market, traveling both domestic and abroad, cooking, horseback riding in Arizona, hanging out with his son, taking care of rental properties, and engaging in political discussions. Chet loved his five grandchildren more than anything. He enjoyed taking them on vacations, having one-on-one time with each of them, and keeping notes of their funny comments in a journal. Chet was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial donations may be made in Chet's name to American Legion Post 312.
