Clarence Gronefeld

Clarence Gronefeld of Centralia, MO, formerly of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Irene Hilda Gronefeld (nee Schaefer); cherished son of the late Herbert and Olga Gronefeld; devoted father of Darrell (Alane) Gronefeld; loving grandfather of Christina and Jonathan Gronefeld; dear brother of Verna (the late Clarence) Roth and brother-in-law of Dorothy (the late John) Ostmann and Verna (the late Harold) Hackmann; and also adored uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Clarence was also proceeded in death by brother Armin (Helen) Gronefeld, brother-in-law Harold (Amanda) Schaefer, and sister-in-law Eunice (Charles) Krause.

Clarence was a dedicated lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church and a former long-time member of Friedens United Church of Christ of St. Charles. He was also a former member of Friedens Men’s Club and a member of a local bowling league. Clarence was honored by being inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for dartball. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
