Clifford A. Sassenrath

Clifford A. Sassenrath, Jr., of St. Peters, Missouri, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the age of 85. He was the loving husband of the late Celeste T. Sassenrath (née: Gruenloh); beloved son of the late Clifford A. and Dorothy Sassenrath; devoted father of Marie (Jerry) Johns, Dorothy (Terry) Zigler, Sharon Sassenrath, Timothy (Linda) Sassenrath, Clifford Sassenrath III, and Sylvia Aubuchon; cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; dear brother of Kenneth (Marion) Sassenrath; and beloved brother-in-law of Sylvia Gittemeier. He is preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy E. Bohning and Juanita Kunderer; brother, Robert Sassenrath; and grandson, Mark Johns. A veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, Clifford retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service, and then worked for the Missouri Highway State Patrol for 15 years. He was a member of Assumption of the B.V.M. Catholic Church in O'Fallon; the Knights of Columbus Council #2341 in Warrenton, MO; and a lifetime member of St. Charles VFW Post #2866. Masses will be accepted during the service or memorial donations may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph.
