Clyde E. "Candy Man" Canady of Saint Peters, Missouri, died on Friday June 5, 2015, at the age of 87. Loving husband of Bertha M. Whitmore Canady (nee: Firth); beloved son of Arch and Berdie (nee: Hohimer) Canady; devoted father of Curtis (Nancy) Canady, Cindy (Danny) Ashby, Cherie (Ted) Gerdel, Monica (Daniel) Koenig, and Patty (Phil) Loutzenhiser; cherished grandfather of 11; treasured great-grandfather of 18; dear great-great-grandfather of 1. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Canady, his wife, Dorothy (nee: Springer) Canady, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers.
Clyde was a hardworking and resourceful young man. He joined the Marine Corp when he was 23 and served on aircraft carriers, and was stationed on the U.S.S. Yorktown during the Korean War.
Clyde was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially family dinners.
Clyde was a resident of St. Peters Missouri for 31 years but lived in Lake of the Ozarks for 10 of those years. He and Bertha traveled for 30 wonderful years, traveling from New York to Alaska and Florida to Texas. They traveled in their motor home, saw the States, made friends, visited family, and danced.
