Constance Hales Deweese (nee Young), of Chesterfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the age of 82 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Connie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at San Diego State College in 1960, and worked for a number of years at the San Diego Zoo, caring for a variety of animals and performing educational outreach to local schools.
In 1961, Connie met her future husband, Ray Deweese through a San Diego Methodist church group in San Diego, CA. They were married in 1963. Their first child, David was born in 1966, and their second child, Dan was born in 1969. The family moved to St. Charles, MO in 1972, where Connie was a wife and homemaker, and worked in the 1980s in special-needs education.
Connie was a long-time faithful and active member of the First St. Charles United Methodist Church. She dedicated herself to numerous Church groups, served as President of the United Methodist Women’s Central District, participated in district conferences, and served on mission trips in the United States and Costa Rica. Her love for the Lord and dedication to the Church sustained her throughout in her life.
She also enjoyed her volunteer work for Friends in Serving Him (FISH) of St. Charles, an emergency-assistance non-profit for the community. She traveled the country and the world with her sister Roberta Young and her husband Ray, and enjoyed crochet, knitting, sewing and crafts.
She is predeceased by her father Bud Young, her mother Lucy Cidot, and her sister Roberta Young. She is survived by her husband Ray, her two children Dave and Dan, and her three grandchildren, Janel, Jessica and Danielle. Connie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
