Dan Frank Hyland, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 68. Beloved son of the late James V. and Dolores B. Hyland; loving father of Victor (Karen) Hyland and Giselle Hyland; brother of James L. Hyland and Linda Partrich; and dear uncle and friend to many.
My Dad, my rock, and the light of my life, Dan Frank Hyland, bought a one-way ticket and took a train ride to heaven on November 25, 2020. Nobody in the world knew Dan's heart better than me, his daughter, Giselle, and nobody knew mine more than my Dad. Dad married a beautiful woman by the name of, Griselda. Dad said from the start it was love at first sight, and he always made a point to repeatedly admit she was the love of his life right up to the very end.
Dan and Griselda raised two good looking red headed children, Victor and Giselle Hyland. Dad was an expert at telling corny Dad jokes and singing silly songs he would make up. He had impeccable timing in knowing the exact moment to embarrass you in front of your friends, while laughing his head off in the process.
He loved jamming out to his old records at full volume with a beer or whiskey in hand while dancing around like a crazy mad man. He taught us kids to always look up to see the moon, planets, and stars with a telescope on many cold winter nights, and he delighted in watching the butterflies migrate in the Spring.
Dad is the hardest working man I ever knew, consistently working overtime and weekends throughout his career. He worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing assembling the C17 and Jumbo Jets. At work he was known as the guy who did the job right the first time and he took great pride in his skill.
Dad was a fierce provider and made sure his family was taken care of, always giving it his best. If you knew Dan in life, you knew he had a great big heart while simultaneously being a big pain in the butt. I love you Dad. I always have. I always will.
I will end this with words from my Dad to me: "Enjoy life hunny and learn to always smile with life. Life is all about enjoyment. Life is a gift. Be good, have fun, and make sure to kiss a lot of boys. You know I love ya and I'll always be here for ya. Do good and enjoy life. That's what life is all about. It ain't no thing like a chicken wing! " - Dan Frank Hyland.
