Jack was a lifetime member of the Pearl Harbor American Legion Post #8 in Wailuku, HI and served in the US Navy during World War II. His military experience was a source of great pride to him and he carried this pride with him throughout his life as he love to visit elementary schools in the Troy area to talk to the schoolchildren about his time serving his country.
He coached and managed little league baseball, Legion baseball, and collegiate baseball for over 50 years and drew much pride and passion from the game and seeing his kids grow up into fine men in the community. Jack’s favorite Major League Baseball team was the New York Yankees and he treasured the autographs he had from Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle as well as many of the other all-time greats.
In Jack’s later years, he enjoyed pursuing photography and of the many photos he took a few were even published. Throughout his life of traveling with the love of his life, they together made their mark on all 7 continents and at least 101 countries. Jack really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family through fishing, hunting, and attending their activities. Jack really only ever sat still long enough to tell one of his great jokes. He will be dearly missed.
