Darlene “Dar” Eaton

January 28, 1932 — July 10, 2019

Darlene "Dar" Elizabeth Eaton, (nee Hatfield) formerly of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in Sammamish, Washington, at the age of 87.

Dar was born January 28, 1932 in Ellendale, North Dakota to the late Edna and Darwin Hatfield. Dar married Charles Anderson in 1951 and to this union a son, Richard was born. They were later divorced.

Dar went to school in North Dakota and taught in a one room school house before following her first husband to El Paso, Tx for his military service. After this, they resided in St. Charles, MO and welcomed Richard. During her time in St. Charles, Dar had a variety of different jobs and was often volunteering at events and fundraisers. She completed her MSA at Lindenwood University. During this time she met Mick and they proceeded to build a life full of love and adventures all while being a tremendous support system for one another. Mick and Dar were married on November 23, 1983. The strength of the love they shared was obvious to all. As true partners, they established a home which was warm, welcoming and full of life. In September 2008, Mick and Dar moved from St. Louis to Sun City, Arizona, following the lead of several cherished friends. Once again, in partnership, they created a beautiful home to enjoy where they could entertain friends and family.

In 2015, Dar moved to Washington state. She spent her last few years here with her son Rich and his family and introduced us all to her loyal dog, Ming.

Dar is survived by her son, Richard Anderson (Linda and son, Stephen); cherished grandchildren, Fred Anderson and Corene Anderson; sister, Peggy Peterson (James); and her beloved "Missouri" kids, Jim, Ronda, Jack and Emma Helton. Dar was also survived by nieces Karin Hsiao (Terence), Sarah Smith (Allen), Amy Hatfield, and nephew John Hatfield(Lisa) along with numerous dear friends and her loyal furry companion, Ming.

Harold Michael “Mick” Eaton was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 13, 1933 and lived there until he joined the Air Force shortly after graduating from high school. During his 23 years in the Air Force, he served in such diverse places as Germany and Alaska as well as bases in the continental US. Much of his military service involved training others and the last few years he served as an Air Force recruiter, a position he most enjoyed. After retiring from the Air Force, Mick had a variety of careers, most involved teaching or training. He taught at Lindenwood Collge in St. Charles, Mo, and worked in management training for several years for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. While serving in the military, Mick earned three college degrees, a BA, an MA and an MBA.

Mick passed away on March 6, 2011, he was 78 years old. Mick had been suffering for several months from various health issues and passed after fighting cancerous tumors which took his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in their memory to The Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis or Lindenwood University.
