Bess, Darrel Virgil of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Bess; cherished son of the late Virgil M. and Lillie Belle Bess; devoted father of Barbara J. Loman, Debra A. (Terry) Lewis, and Kenneth W. Bess; loving grandfather of 9; treasured great grandfather of many; and dear brother of Lyndell (Bonnie) Bess, Evelyn "Louise" (James) Hinkle, Charles "C.W." (Mary) Bess, Carolyn A. (Don) Graves, Doris (John) Guzman, Richard (Linda) Bess, and the late Wilma "Jean" Ezell.
Darrel dedicated more than 43 years as a machinist for Boeing before retiring. He was a member of Machinist Local 837-B and Webster Groves Baptist Church. He loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and was a fan of many other sports. In his free time, he like collecting clocks and spending time in his backyard, he especially enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Darrel was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
