Roegner, Darrell B., 71, of Lake St. Louis, died at his home surrounded by his family on November 11, 2011. Darrell is survived by his wife, Maizie Roegner and two daughters, Christine Eastvold (Edwin A) of Foristell and Dr. Gretchen Moorman (Daniel S.) of Kirkwood. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Alex and Mackenzie Eastvold, Luke and Molly Moorman and his sister Janet (Chet) Brod of Festus. Darrell was born to the late Harry and Opal Roegner, December 3, 1939 in Crystal City, Missouri. Darrell graduated from Crystal City High School in 1957. Throughout high school, Darrell played American Legion Baseball and later tried out as a catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition, Darrell served First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves. He earned his Associates degree in 1959 from Flat River Community College. Darrell continued his education at St. Louis University where he earned a BA in Economics and a minor in Psychology and Philosophy in 1961. Darrell was a well-known banker and was passionate about making a difference in the St. Charles County community. He began his 35 year banking career with Mercantile Bank where he aided in the development of the Lake St. Louis community. He then worked for Mark Twain Bank, Midwest Bank Centre, and Premier Bank of St. Charles County. He was recognized with the Community Excellence Award from SSM Health Care in 2001; In 2004 the St. Charles Business Magazine and the Economic Development Center Board recognized him as an "Entrepreneur in Action." In 2005 the St. Charles Business Magazine awarded him for his contributions to the community with the 50 over 50 Shapers Award. Darrell also earned the Excellence in Community Development Award in 2008 from the Progress 64 West organization. He served on and was chairman of the boards of the St. Charles Economic Development Council, Partners for Progress, the Salvation Army of St. Charles County and the St. Charles Community College Foundation. He also served on the Boards of St. Peters Barnes Jewish Hospital, the Tri county YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Charles County Realtor's Board. Darrell also taught Junior Achievement, a program that helps young people learn and experience challenges in the business world and served on the Board of The Barrett Haven School. Throughout his life, he made a difference in the lives of many. Darrell loved sports, golf, and traveling, especially the many trips he shared with his family to Florida, Hawaii, and Colorado. He enjoyed spending time with his family, mainly his grandchildren. Immediately following the Memorial Mass, a reception will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Lake Forest Country Club, 300 Yard Drive, Lake St. Louis, Missouri 63367-2434. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Louis University or the Salvation Army of St. Charles County c/o Baue Funeral Homes.
