David E. Harangozo was born February 7, 1937 at Lutheran Hospital on Miami and Jefferson Sts. He went for grades 1 and 2 at St. Gregory Catholic School, and then continued his public education at the RitenourSchool District. He was drafted with a top secret clearance for the Nike Hercules Interceptor Missile Program for the U. S. Army, where he finished schooling and received his high school diploma. He was in the missile program from 1963-1964 stationed at Ft. Bliss in Texas.
After an honorable discharge in 1964, David went to work as a driving instructor for 2 years. He then worked at May Company in downtown St. Louis in a management position, followed by a successful career as a car salesman.
David and his wife Lois met in 1970 while both were working at Famous-Barr and were married April l7, 1973 in Centerville Illinois. Sons Christopher, Brian, and Scott were born of that union.
In October 1976 his dear wife Lois got him an interview through her expertise at writing a resume with a national company, Graber Co., as a salesman, and they hired him immediately. He enjoyed much success for 12 years there until he left that company to join another national company, Lafayette Blind Co, as an interior fashions salesman. During his 13 years there, David took his annual sales from $150,000 to 5 million.
David retired in 2001, but it wasn't long before his old boss called to ask if he would come back for one more year to fix a failing territory in Kentucky and Indiana that was losing $200,000 a week in revenue. David agreed to sign on for one more year and was able to turn the area around to eliminate the loss and become highly productive in sales. David finally fully retired in 2002 to enjoy many years of cruising with his wife.
