David Lee Hood, a man who touched the hearts of all who knew him, passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Born on October 10, 1936 in Vinita, Oklahoma, to parents George and Beulah Nadine Hood and sisters Sue Eby and Betty Meister, he was the devoted husband of the late Dolly Naomi Hood. David's memory will forever live on through his cherished children, Jim (Julie) Hood and Cheri (Kevin) Burleson, and his adoring grandchildren, James Barton, Emily Hood, and David Hood.
For 10 years, David honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as a B-47 Stratojet bomb-navigator in the 308th Bombardment Wing, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
David led a life of service and generosity, volunteering and donating to various causes, including the March of Dimes, WalkAmerica (now known as the March for Babies), Junior Achievement, and the USO, among others. His positive outlook on life, humility, quick wit, and good humor brought joy to all around him.
David devoted 32 years of dedicated service to McDonnell-Douglas, where he not only excelled in his career but also fostered lifelong friendships. Outside of work, he indulged in his passions for bridge and golf as a member of Bogey Hills Golf Club.
An artist at heart, David’s creative spirit thrived in the art of stained glass, painting, sketching, drawing with chalk, and woodworking, leaving behind a legacy of beauty and craftsmanship.
David Lee Hood was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Trinity Episcopal Church.
