David Joseph Maisak, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Portage Des Sioux, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the age of 84. David is survived by the love of his life, Carol Hutchison and her family. He was a devoted father to Lauri (the late Robert) Allen; beloved son of the late Ralph and Lucille Maisak; cherished grandfather of Jessie Allen and Jamie Allen; treasured great grandfather of Chloe Allen; dearest brother of Joan Rogers and Linda Maisak. David was also preceded in death by his first and second wives, Jane Maisak and Jackie Maisak.
David proudly and honorably served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He retired after more than 30 years as a civil aircraft mechanic for the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of VFW Post 4219, AmVets 106, and American Legion 392. He was also a pilot and loved flying, but more so looked forward to jumping out of the plane; he was a paratrooper and did over 600 jumps in his career.
David loved his Harley and riding out on an adventure with Carol. They enjoyed road trips on Route 66, going to the Carolinas, and riding along the coast in Florida. David liked living near the water and being outdoors with nature and the animals, and he became an avid birdwatcher when he moved to Florida. He enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to music with Carol while they watched the sunrises and sunsets.
David truly loved his family and spending time with friends. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials contributions may be made in David's name to American Legion Post 392, 535 Oak Ave, Panama City, FL 32401.
