David Roy Jaenke, born April 18, 1950, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at his home in St. Charles, Missouri surrounded by his family.
Dave is remembered for his warming personality, disarming sense of humor, passionate work ethic, and unhurried perspective. The world waited on Dave. In return, those close to him were blessed for their patience.
His contagious spirit brought him enduring love as a husband, endless gratitude as a father, and a humble satisfaction in his accomplishments. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jill, his proud children: Derek (Anna) Jaenke, Jena (Paul) Bagot, and Doran (Katherine) Jaenke, and his cherished grandchildren: Maryann, Ella, Davi, Dawson, and Kamryn. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leona, and Leroy Jaenke.
A proud Valmeyer High School graduate, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale in 1972 and later completed his master’s at Saint Louis University. A retired Air Force veteran, he was also an active member of the Clayton Jaycees Senator, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and part-owner of Envision LLC, an IT company. He was also a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Psi.
While Dave was a man who enjoyed simple things like old TV shows and Classic Rock, he preferred fast cars, big boats, good meals, and apple martinis. Dave looked to spend his time enjoying every moment and could connect with anyone who wanted to do the same. He had a keen sense for what was worth worrying over and discovered that most of his time was better spent with a laugh. He will always be known for his ability to manage every situation with a soft-grinned joke at the perfect time. The Dave Way.
The Dave Way is a gift that his spirit leaves behind for us. It can be felt any time that you stop to enjoy a moment a little more and is amplified when you share a belly laugh.
