David Joe Shields

David Joe Shields, of Weldon Spring, Missouri, passed away Saturday June 2, 2018, at the age of 55. Cherished son of Janice Kay Shields Krehbiel and the late Joe Frank Shields; loving father of Cassy (Drew) Coleman and Carly Shields; devoted grandfather of Wyatt and Wesley Coleman; dear brother of Randy Shields, treasured uncle of Ryan and Brianna Shields. David is also survived by the mother of his children, Jane Shields.

Born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, David was a graduate of Mount Vernon Township High School, class of 1980. He then went on to attend Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 1985. His love of golf led him to a career in turf management and he served as President of Supreme Turf Products. David was a member of multiple golf associations, and he gave of his time generously through charity golf fundraising events. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 556. In his free time, David looked forward to spending time at the beach, at his second home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. David was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many, who will be remembered for his outgoing and kindhearted nature. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
