David "Pops" Potter

David "Pops" Potter, age 76, took his final flight on Sunday January 29th, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family.

David was preceded by his son Anthony David and survived by his wife of 54 years, Johanna, his three daughters, Nicol Potter, Monica Potter, and Jennifer Pelletier, grandson, Tyler Pauley, sisters, Bonnie Peters and Sandy McAninch, brothers, Mark Potter and Kevin Potter, sons-in-law, Daniel Schriener and Scott Pelletier, and many loving nephews, nieces, and extended family.  David was a loving father, husband, Pops, brother, uncle, and friend.

David was born June 21st, 1946, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Warren and Jessie Potter. A graduate of Oak Lawn High School (Chicago, Illinois) he later received his bachelor’s in business at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. That same year, David enlisted in the United States Air Force determined to become a pilot and serve his country in the Vietnam War, which he accomplished in 1970.  David was a decorated war veteran and received THE AIR MEDAL twice, as well as a two-time recipient of THE DISTINIGUISHED FLYING CROSS.  After leaving the Air Force in 1977, David moved his family across country from Vacaville, California to St. Louis, Missouri. He carried out a successful career in Aircraft Sales for over three decades, sending him to all corners of the world while making life-long friends along the way.

A military service for David will be held on the 3rd of March at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, MO.  Doors will open at 5:00pm and military service to begin at 6:00pm.

Celebration of Life will be held on the 4th of March 11:00am – 4:00pm at Town Square Pub N Grub Dardenne Prairie, MO.

Both the service and celebration of life are open to the public.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s honor to K9s for Warriors, Wounded Warriors, and Homes for Veterans.

Please join us in honoring and celebrating a man whose presence was so large in our lives, the sun and moon would be jealous.
