Dayna was born August 22, 1959, in St. Charles, MO to Donald and Joyce (Monroe) Ohlms. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis, MO and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. Following graduation, Dayna began her career as a medical technologist. It was while working at DePaul Hospital that she met her future husband, Jerry Flint. When Jerry went to graduate school at the University of Kentucky, they married, and Dayna worked as medical technologist at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and supported the family. Once Jerry’s career began, the family moved to several places. Dayna concentrated her efforts on her family and volunteering in the communities in which they lived. One of her most memorable experiences was living in Singapore where she organized her daughter’s education and supported the Singapore American School and Tabitha Foundation Cambodia.

When Dayna returned to the United States she volunteered for several organizations, including PEO International, PTA as VP of Fundraising, Junior League Des Moines, Junior League St. Louis, Girl Scouts of America, and National Charity League. In her forty years of volunteering, Dayna’s leadership helped raise over eight million dollars for these organizations.

In the little spare time Dayna had, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was an avid reader. Her favorite activity was traveling with her family. Dayna traveled the world (over thirty countries and most of the United States) and relished those memories.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Flint of Johnston; daughter, Bayley Flint Johnson and her husband Matthew of Chaska, MN; siblings: Cheryl (Peter) Perkins of Cincinnati, OH; niece, Abby Perkins; Todd (Erin) Ohlms of Chicago, IL; nephew, Joseph and niece, Grace Ohlms. Dayna was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made “In Memory of Dayna Flint” to P.E.O. International STAR Scholarship (JM-JY\IA Des Moines Chapter), the Chaminade Donald J. Ohlms “Red Devil” Memorial Scholarship, or the Iowa Health Care Association Foundation.
