Debra Ann "Debi" VanDyne, age 55, died at 11:19 p.m. Tues., Oct. 27, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, following an intense battle with cancer. Debi was born May 12, 1954, in Carthage, MO, to Robert H. Knell Sr. and Doris Knell (nee: Ralston). She attended Carthage schools, graduating number three in the CHS Class of 1972. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS, in 1975. She earned her Masters Degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University in 1993. Debi married the love of her life, George E. VanDyne, on Aug. 1, 1975 in Carthage. They resided in Olathe, KS, Independence, KS, and St. Charles, MO. She most recently was employed by MS Govern, St. Louis. She was an active member of Harvester Church of the Nazarene. Debi had many passions in life, such as playing the piano and singing, her work, spending time with George and their families, and serving the Lord in church. However no passion in life was greater than her love for her grandchildren: Christian, Natalie, Mia, Elijah, Naomi, and Aaron. It was her desire for them to walk in the way of the Lord for all of their days. Survivors include her husband, George, of St. Charles, MO; son, Eric VanDyne and wife Lisa, of St. Charles, MO; daughter Amy Baugher and husband Paul, of Maryland Heights, MO; sister Terri Rushing and husband Tracy, of Carthage, MO; brother Kevin Knell and wife Michelle, of Conway, AR; brother-in-law David VanDyne and wife Susan, of Topeka, KS; sister-in-law Becky Dalrymple and husband Grady, of Oklahoma City, KS; six grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Bob" and Doris Knell; brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Kathy Knell; parent-in-laws Don and Carol VanDyne; and sister-in-law, Robin VanDyne.
