Deirdre “Dee” Whitener (nee L'Hommedieu), of O Fallon, MO, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at the age of 89. Loving wife of the late John "Jay" P. Whitener; beloved daughter of the late Morford and Ethel L'Hommedieu; devoted mother of Jon (Kim) Hindman; stepmother of John P. (Marilynn) Whitener, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Andrew (Katelyn) Whitener and Shannon (Jake) Cox; treasured great-grandmother of William Jay Whitener; treasured aunt of Donna Worosello Patrick and Debbie Worosello; and is also survived by her extended family & friends. Dee is also preceded in death by her first husband, Richard S. Hindman; sister, Dorothy Worosello; step-son, Kenny Whitener.
Dee was a devout Christian and was very active with her church, Moscow Mills United Methodist. She was a selfless, tireless worker, who loved her children and grandchildren very much. Dee had a warm heart and worried about everybody and prayed for everybody. She loved hummingbirds and was very passionate about caring for them. Dee loved being outdoors, especially watching the sunrise, sunset, and the stars. Dee was an active and adventurous spirit. She loved to go hiking and walking, even winning two 5Ks in her 80's in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She worked on the farm with her husband Jay in St. Paul, taking care of the livestock and land. She also ran a salvage yard with Jay: Auto Parts Company in Moscow Mills. Deirdre was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
