Delores Jean Brown

Delores Jean Brown (Proffer), 86, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017 at her home.

Born September 30, 1931 in Crump, Missouri she was the daughter and only child of the late Lloyd Jennings Proffer and Vivian Marie Proffer (Craft).

She married Nelson in July of 1949 in Crump and moved to St. Louis in 1953.   They built their home in St. Charles in 1958 where they still reside today.

Delores was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and caring for her family.  The grandchildren called her Splash because of the swimming pool in her backyard. She loved playing in the pool with them.   And she made the best biscuits, gravy and homemade donuts in the world.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Nelson Eugene Brown, two daughters Margaret Harrelson, wife of Gary Harrelson of St. Peters MO, Carolyn Fink, wife of Richard Fink of St. Louis, Mo; three grandchildren Michael Harrelson and wife Rose of Smyrna, TN, Amanda Kowalski and husband Adam of Parkland, FL, Timothy Harrelson and wife Stephanie of St. Peters, MO, grandson-in-law Alexis Cruz of Franklin, TN; seven great grandchildren, Benjamin and Joshua Cruz of Franklin, TN, Caleb and Connor Kowalski of Parkland, FL, and Ezekiel, Matthias and Kilian Harrelson of St. Peters, MO.  Delores was expecting her eighth grandchild to be born in June of 2018 to Michael and Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter Angela Cruz (Harrelson) who passed away November 13, 2016.

She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Charles where she had been involved in leading a Sunday School class for many years with her husband.

Funeral services will be led by Rev. Buddy Perstrope, pastor of First Baptist Church of St. Charles, MO.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of St. Charles, MO or The Salvation Army.
