Filla, Dennis M., of St. Peters, Missouri, died on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the age of 86. Preceded in death by two wives, Rosalie Filla and Margaret Filla; dear son of the late Frances Filla and the late Regina Filla (nee Swoboda), loving father of Paul (Lynne) Filla, Andrew (Debra) Filla and Deborah (Rick) Reno; loving step-father of Barbara (Bill) Garlich; Richard Smith and Kenneth (Barbi) Smith; loving brother of Raymond (Lois) Filla; cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, beloved uncle to Jim (Alice Anne), Gary, and Patti. He is preceded in death by brother and sisters, Germaine, Celeste, Ambrose, Catherine, and Alice. A lover of nature, specifically his two-legged friends, the birds. He was an avid gardener and was a member of the St. Charles Men's Garden Club. Dennis was artistic and made the stained glass window currently in the St. Charles Prebyterian Church. He was employed as a Expediter in Hazards at McDonnell Douglas for more than 29 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a participant in D-Day. An interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with honors will be held. Date and time to be determined. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.
