Dixie Gabel

Dixie L. Gabel (nee Lucas), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the age of 88. Cherished daughter of the late Earl and Lucille Roberta Lucas; devoted mother of Jana (Carl) Jansson and Jeff (Barbara) Gabel; loving grandmother of Kelsey (Tom) Lang, Chris Jansson, and Jennifer Jansson. 

Dixie was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a philanthropic sorority, for 56 years. She was a founding member of the Beta Kappa chapter of ESA.  

She had many jobs over the years, first as an executive secretary for IBM, and later as an office manager for several different doctors offices. She found her true calling and greatest love though in her final career, working with families through their grief, and in preneed burial sales at Baue Funeral Homes in Saint Charles County, Missouri and Kassly Funeral Homes in Collinsville, Illinois. 

Dixie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Memorials may be made in Dixie's name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
