Dolores Rosita Minor of O’Fallon, MO, passed Wednesday May 30, 2018, at the age of 75. Beloved wife to the late Jay Minor, the love of her life for 35 years; cherished daughter of the late Gladys and Eugene Washington Sr.; devoted mother of Dion Minor, Deborah Minor, Daviette (Kenton) Minor- Saunders, Marcia (Timothy) Johnson, Thomas Walker, and Jayms (Keva) Fayson; loving grandmother of 9, treasured great-grandmother of many; dear sister of Deborah Fuller, Darlene Logan, Eugene Washington, the late Denise Washington; loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews; and relative and friend to many others.
Dolores was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Growing up she was in the first desegregated class at John Philip Sousa Junior High School during her 7th grade year and was the first female in the Mechanical Drawing Class at McKinley Tech High School. Her research work with the Veterans’ Administration took her from Washington D.C. to Albany, New York where she married the love of her life Jay and it ultimately brought them to O’Fallon, MO where they spent more than 25 happy years together.
Dolores was faithful and very active with her church family at First Baptist of Creve Coeur, where she served on the Mother’s Board. She loved participating with many Bowling Leagues, Tropicana Bowl in Clayton being one of her favorite places to practice her bowling skills and shared her love of it by teaching all of her children to bowl. Dolores was an avid card player and enjoyed her Friday nights with the girls. She also took delight in travelling all over the United States and World, especially to Florida and Las Vegas. Her favorite trips included traveling to Washington D.C. every year for Mother's Day and Thanksgiving to create lasting memories with her family.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
