DeFreese, Donald, of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Bridgeton, MO, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the age of 88. Loving husband of 61 years to Virginia DeFreese; beloved son of the late Andrew and Mildred DeFreese; devoted father of Diane (Bruce) Jenkins, Donald E. (Linda) DeFreese, and Carol DeFreese; cherished grandfather of Christopher (Megan) DeFreese and Matthew DeFreese; treasured great-grandfather of Madison Elfrink, Austin Elfrink, Savannah Elfrink, and Zachary DeFreese; dear brother-in-law of Dorothy DeFreese; and also his devoted feline companion Hazel, and many nieces nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandsons Joseph Elfrink and Michael Elfrink, and his brother Stanley DeFreese.
Donald enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, camping, and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and moved to St. Louis to work for McDonnell Douglas where he retired from after 32 years. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
