Don Hallemeier, a dedicated family man, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured every moment spent with his family and friends. Since the birth of his first grandchild 43 years ago, Don devoted himself to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always present at their events and activities. Family vacations and trips to Florida to visit his grandkids were among his greatest joys.
Don was an active participant in his sons' lives, coaching their baseball teams and supporting them through the Boy Scouts. His work ethic extended beyond his family, as he was a Vice President with two aerial photography companies and enjoyed working on his family farm and in his garden. An avid sports enthusiast, Don loved golf and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, attending is first game in 1938 and proudly recalled his membership in the Cardinal Knothole gang in the 1930s.
After serving in the Army for two years and being stationed in Japan, Don returned to his studies and graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute. He met his late wife, Janet, while standing in line at the college bookstore, and they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they traveled the world, with Europe holding a special place in their hearts.
Don was active in his community, serving as president of St. Peters Kiwanis, a member of the American Legion Post 312, and participating in various committees at Our Savior Lutheran Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he remained deeply involved in his church community. He attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1946. He was a lifelong resident of St. Charles and enjoyed sharing it’s history with anyone who would listen.
Later in life, he liked spending time with his donut group, where they tried many different donut shops.
The Hallemeier family would like to thank The Boulevard and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Don was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Don's name to Greater St. Louis Honor Flight.
