Donald J. Hieger

Donald John Hieger, Sr., of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Barbara Ann Hieger (nee Begley); cherished son of the late Jack and Sylvia Hieger; devoted father of Donald John Hieger, Jr., Benedict (Briana Nix) Hieger and Patrick (Doris) Hieger; loving grandfather of Samantha, Beau, Oliver, Jack and Penny; godfather of Jill Maher and Ryan Duncan; dear brother of Robert (Pam) Hieger, Mark (Jo) Hieger, and Jeanne (Dennis) Duncan; dear brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend to Tom Canavan, Tom Wood, Gene Grassmuck and Benny Shields.

Donald proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy. Donald met his wife, Barbara, on a blind date in 1971 and was married to her for 50 years. He was a family man, who always put others first. Donald had a great sense of humor and loved jokes, always led the YMCA dance at every wedding and party and was the self-appointed mayor of his street.

“Lefty” was a self-taught handyman and enjoyed woodworking. He was also an avid reader, pool player, horseshoes player and a 300 bowler. Donald was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Donald's name to The Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
