Donald J. McFarland Sr. passed from this world to the next on April 6, 2021 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was a driver for County Cab for over 40 years and was a proud member of the UFCW and Teamsters. He was a graduate of Hadley Technical High School and held a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Business Management from St. Louis University. He was a proud member and advocate of AA for the past 35 years.
He loved the arts and was a member of the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Missouri Botanical Gardens.
He loved reading and knowledge and was a member of the Missouri Historical Society, the Scottish St. Andrews Society and had served as a past Vice President of the Optimist’s Club.
He loved God and his faith and was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church as well as a member of the Sacred Heart Society.
Above all else he loved his family and had been a most wonderful son, father, and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his father, W.T. McFarland, and stepfather Edward F. Schulte, by his wife, Betty R. McFarland, and his long-time girlfriend Linda M. Borsodi and by his sons Matthew McFarland and Michael F. McFarland Sr.
He is loved, mourned, and survived by his mother Dorothy M. Schulte, by his son Donald J. McFarland and by his grand-children Madeline H. McFarland, Michael F. McFarland Jr., Matthew E. McFarland, and Jacob D. McFarland.
