Doris Jeanette Ormsby (nee Ensz), of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the age of 70. Loving wife of almost 50 years to Ronald G. Ormsby, Sr.; beloved daughter of the late Alvin and Delma Ensz; devoted mother of Ronald G. (Michelle) Ormsby Jr. and Matthew (Christine Ransom) Ormsby; cherished grandmother of Megan Ormsby, Anna Ormsby, Hattie Ormsby, and Ava Ormsby; dear sister of Shirley (Jerry) DeLashmit, Sarah (George) Wymore, Phyllis Featherston, Kathy (Bill) Walker, Danny (Janey) Ensz, Rose (Michael) Straughn, and MaryAnn (the late Benny) Bell. Doris was preceded in death by her infant son, Kevin L. Ormsby and her sister, Barbara (the late Don) Maupin.
Doris retired after more than 20 years with Fort Zumwalt School District as a secretary. She enjoyed camping with her family, and a little fishing with her husband. She cherished spending time with her grandkids and taking them shopping. More importantly, she treasured attending her grandkids performance and sporting events, and she never missed one. She also loved to surprise them at school for lunch, and she participated in their school fundraisers.
Doris loved the outdoors and spent much time tending to her flower gardens. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and looked forward to watching their games on TV. She could be found behind a camera taking pictures of family, friends, and wildlife. As an avid birdwatcher she also loved taking pictures of birds, and she had many bird feeders around her house to watch them. She also enjoyed adventures and traveling with her sisters every year. Doris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
