Dorothy Louise Curran (nee Lingle), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Mondello; cherished daughter of the late Althea Crane. Devoted mother of Linda (John) Cova and Thomas (Jennifer) Mondello; loving grandmother of Anthony (Marion Hau) Cova, Christina (David) Fischer, and Thomas Mondello; treasured great-grandmother of Benjamin Fischer and Sophie Fischer; loving aunt.
Preceded in death by her second husband, Joseph Curran; two sisters, Wilma Leisure and Faye Watt; and two brothers, William Lingel and Robert Crane.
Dorothy, a former member of the National Education Association, played a pivotal role in initiating the free breakfast and lunch program within the Maplewood Richmond Heights school district. Alongside her commitment to education, Dorothy found joy in hosting gatherings for loved ones and had a passion for both domestic and international travel. An avid reader, Dorothy's education was interrupted during the Great Depression, but she persevered, obtaining her GED and later pursuing a college degree. She supported her siblings in seeking better opportunities, exemplifying the rewards of hard work and dedication. For Dorothy, family held the utmost importance, and her memory will be cherished dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
