Dorothy E. Dixon (nee Head) passed away after a long but faithful journey on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the age of 88. Dorothy was born in Mount Vernon, NC as the cherished daughter of the late Ardie Inez Yelton. After graduating high school as Valedictorian, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri to attend Beland Pentecostal College. It is there that she met the love of her life and married the late Joseph L. Dixon. She was the devoted mother to her children and their spouses: Michael & Jan (Link) Dixon, Sherri (Dixon) & Stan Hall and Jacquelyn (Dixon) & Pete Delkus. She deeply loved each of her grandchildren: Lindsay (Dixon) & Josh Kiefer, Kelsey Dixon & Alex Cornett (fiancé), Mary Hall & Michael Naughton, Landon Hall, Emily (Delkus) & Joseph Goodale, Peter Delkus and treasured great grandmother of Walker Keim. Dorothy was very close to her 15 siblings and their spouses: brother Bobby Head (deceased), brother Kenneth & Betty Jean Head, sister Sandra Wilson, sister Brenda Jackson, sister Geraldine & Bud Ledbetter, brother David (deceased) & Shirley Yelton, brother Bruce & Sandra Yelton, sister Carolyn & Bobby Fowler, sister Patty & Holland Luckadoo, brother Gary Yelton (deceased), brother James “Craton” Yelton (deceased), brother Woodrow & Carolyn Yelton, sister Francis Bishop, sister Betty Crump (deceased) and brother Bud Yelton (deceased).
Dorothy enjoyed her bowling league (where she sported her hot pink bowling ball and shoes). She was also a member of the "105 Club” (a group of ladies who were fellow keypunch operators). She was a devoted member of Revival Tabernacle, Trinity Tabernacle, Calvary Church, and Gateway Nazarene Church. Dorothy was a multi-award winner for cooking and baking. She consistently provided meals for homebound, sick, grieving, needy friends, and neighbors. She was a faithful member of her church and was active in the choir, served in Missionettes, Women’s ministry, and Sunday School and GriefShare ministries. Dorothy loved roses, parties, crystal and of course, a touch of “bling”. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
