Dorothy E. Gunter of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 97 on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rowland Gunter; her parents, Bernard and Catherine Brassie; and her siblings, Connie Brassie, Geraldine O'Connor, Roberta (the late Herbert) Lang, and Bernard Brassie.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Michael (Sandy) Gunter, Linda (Michael) McWhorter, and Suzanne (Jim) Bayes; her grandchildren, John Lawson, Brian Gunter, and Matthew Gunter; her sister, Katherine (Alfred) Villagran; and she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt to many.
Dorothy was a faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she had the pleasure of singing in the church choir with her husband for many years. During Dorothy’s working years, she was a hairdresser and then went on to work in Retail Sales. She took up oil painting as a hobby after retiring and enjoy putting her creativity to work.
Music held a special place in Dorothy’s heart, and she carried a love for it all throughout life ever since she learned to play the piano at a young age. Family meant everything to Dorothy and she loved to cook for them and to visit with them at all their get-togethers over the years. Dorothy always looked forward to the cruises she’d take and she made many great memories throughout her travels.
Dorothy lived her final four years at Mount Carmel Communities in St. Charles. She made some very dear friends while there and enjoyed playing bingo, along with other games, and making jewelry. Dorothy also treasured the company of the friends she met through her membership with the St. Charles Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
