Dorothy L. Leible

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Learn to Swim Program c/o the St. Charles County YMCA, 3900 Shady Springs Lane, St. Peters, MO 63376. LEIBLE, Dorothy L. (Dorsey), age 88, Foristell, MO, formerly of Bridgeton, MO died at Charlevoix Nursing Home, St. Charles on August 6, 2005. Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 12, 1917. Beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Leible. Dear mother of Larry L. Leible (son), Jonelle (Leible) Hayden (daughter) and Joseph H. Hayden (son-in-law). Beloved (Dorsey) grandmother of Jeffrey Howard Hayden, Matthew L., Michael W. (Jill) and Lawrence G. Leible. Great-grandmother of Grace M. Hayden, Austin, Ashley and Joseph Leible. Mrs. Leible was Aquatic Director for the Y.M.C.A. and Tiemeyer Pool in St. Ann and worked with the Red Cross Swimming Program for 65 years and received the Clara Barton Award. Dorothy worked 10 years at the Stefania’s Italian Restaurant, Wentzville, MO as a Hostess. Dorothy began her career at Stefania’s in her late 70’s. She was known for starting the “Learn to Swim”, and Water Babies Programs in the St. Louis area. She also was a long standing member of C.N.C.A. and Machinist Local 777. Mrs. Leible has been cremated and private family interment of her remains will be at a later date in Fillmore Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore, Illinois, where Dorsey will join her husband, Joe, parents, grandparents and other family members. At her request, there will not be a memorial service, she also asked no flowers, because family and friends always sent them while she was living so she could smell them then, and not when she was gone!
