Dorothy Sudfeld

September 28, 1920 — May 4, 2010

Dorothy Marie Keitel was born on September 28th, 1920 in St. Louis. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She grew up in the city of St. Louis and worked in her mother’s restaurant, across from Sportsman’s Park, and later at her gift shop. During World War II, she worked at Emerson Electric in support of the war effort. Dorothy married Clifford Charles Sudfeld on May 16th, 1955 in St Louis. They lived in the Ferguson/Florissant area of St. Louis where Dorothy was kept busy raising five children. Once her children were older, Dorothy worked for Pope’s Cafeteria at Emerson Electric for over 20 years. Dorothy and Clifford retired to the New Melle area in 1990. Dorothy was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Melle and was a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Quilting Circle. She also enjoyed sharing the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy and Clifford moved to the Villages of St. Peters in 2009. Dorothy passed away the evening of May 4th with her husband Clifford and family members at her side. She is at rest with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Keitel and her mother Ina (Heninger) Keitel. She is survived by her husband Clifford, her brother Victor Keitel and wife Shirlee, her children Harold "Bud" Hotop, Sharon Mueller and husband Bob, Sandy Patch, Mark Sudfeld and wife Sarah, and Carol Demien and husband Jeff, her 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of New Melle.
