Edward C. “Mayor of Wentzville” Simms, of Wentzville, MO, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the age of 69. Loving husband of Janie F. Simms; beloved son of the late Winston M. and Ruby J. Simms; devoted father of Gwendolyn I. Simms and April F. (Edward) Cotton-Simms; cherished grandfather of Treasure, Travis, Travon, God-Son, William Higgins; dear brother of Winston M. (Sharon) Simms, Jr., Jesse Crawford, and Sam Crawford; nephew of Charles Wesley (Veronica) Simms, Marcella Simms, Gloria Jones, and Mabel Whitehurst; special uncle of Donna Simms; special friend of Kathy Tate; and special cousin of Harlan (Shelly) Whitehurst. Edward is preceded in death by his siblings, Marilla, Clifton, and Hazel.
Edward was retired from Brinkley/Saf-Holland USA after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Negro Baseball O’Fallon Blue Jays Club. Edward loved football and had a huge passion for coaching Little League, he was the assistant coach for the Wildcats. He loved to do the "Charlie dance!” Edward enjoyed life and spending time with his friends and family. Edward was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
