Edwina “Chic” Diller (nee League) of St. Charles, Mo., was born October 18, 1926 and passed away January 25, 2020 at the age of 93. Childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of Dale for 68 years, loving daughter of Blanche Heidemann (nee Koch), devoted mother of Laura Brown and Kirby (Mary) Diller, cherished grandmother of Nicole Diller and Julia (Blake) Coyazo, adoring great-grandmother of Kinley Coyazo, dearest sister of Harvey (Marilynn) Heidemann, caring aunt of Craig (Ann) Heidemann, Amanda (Mitch) Heidemann Johnson, proud great-aunt of Abigail and Eva Heidemann, Adam and Eric Johnson, very special friend to Vernon Stone and his family, dear sister-in-law, cousin and friend to all, preceded in death by brother Charles Heidemann.
After graduating from Beaumont High and Harris Teachers College, Chic taught on Maui, in St. Louis and Riverview Gardens. She and Dale returned to Hawaii several times since then and have enjoyed many other travels together as well. After retiring from teaching at LeMasters Elementary, she and Dale spent even longer summers boating on the river. Chic still continued to enjoy sitting down to read a good book, visiting the Zoo, Botanical Gardens and Science Center, spoiling their granddaughters and having monthly luncheons with the “Golden Girls”.
Moving to Breeze Park in 2012, Chic found the perfect retirement job on the Welcoming Committee. Every special occasion always started with a card from Chic to remind us just how much she cared. She was quick witted, sharp minded, and warm hearted. Chic is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and the St. Louis Zoo Tribute Fund.
Memorial Service on Sunday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Breeze Park Chapel, 600 Breeze Park Dr, Weldon Spring, MO 63304. Private interment at Jefferson Barracks.
