Eileen M. Chrum (née Schiller), 75, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away on January 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Chrum, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Mom was a devoted mother and loved dearly her children Mimi Chrum (her roomie), Mike and Michelle Hoffmann, Larry Chrum, and her seven grandchildren—Philip, Luke, and Molly Hoffmann; Mallory and her son, Dallas; Camilla, Cael, and Colette Chrum—along with their mother, Shellie. We will forever be grateful for the time we had with Mom.
Nothing brought Mom more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether taking them on mini-vacations, glamping trips, or to the Lake of the Ozarks. She never missed an important moment, always cheering them on at soccer games, softball tournaments, Pinewood Derby races, school plays, holiday concerts, dance recitals, and Grandparents Days. She was overjoyed to meet her great-grandson last year.
Born to the late Frank and Helen Schiller, Mom was a loving sister to the late Bob Timme, the late John Schiller, and the late Marilyn Schiller. She is survived by her cherished sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Kenny Grewe, as well as her nephew and niece, Kevin and Jeanette, who held a special place in her heart. Many weekends were spent together, laughing and enjoying games, creating memories that will be forever treasured.
Mom and Dad also shared a deep and lasting friendship with mom’s cousin Kathy and her husband Al Szarwinski, along with Al’s brother Chuck and his wife Rose, and John’s best friend Walt and his wife Rose Dobrinski. Many outings and vacations were spent together, strengthening a bond that felt more like family. A cherished tradition for Mom, Kathy, and "the Roses" was their annual weeklong getaway to the Lake of the Ozarks, a time filled with laughter, relaxation, and lifelong memories.
Mom loved holidays and family picnics, always surrounded by her large extended family from both the Chrum and Grewe sides. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, a day she made extra special for everyone. For as long as anyone can remember, she cooked one of the two turkeys and made her famous sweet potato casserole topped with marshmallows. Her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews were part of so many treasured memories, filling those gatherings with laughter, love, and a deep sense of togetherness.
Mom had a kind heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a creative touch when it came to decorating—her home was always evolving with new colors and themes. She worked for many years at the local grocery store, where she formed lasting friendships (and kept a watchful eye on her kids!). A talented cook, she was known for her delicious roast beef and homemade soup, a treasured family recipe passed down from her mother.
Mom and Dad created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of togetherness. They hosted frequent game nights for family and friends, a tradition that will be fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a Memorial Gift donation in Mom’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization she supported faithfully.
Mom will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
