Eleanor Fern Mehrhoff
November 25, 1927 — August 4, 2019
Mehrhoff, Eleanor Fern (nee Herrmann) went to her maker on August 4, 2019. She was born on November 25,1927 to the late Harry and Eleanor (nee Collett) Herrmann. Beloved wife of the late Harry J. Mehrhoff. She was “His Fern” for 68 years. Proud mother of seven children: Glen (Jamie); Linda Ackenhausen; Robin (Martin) Cohen; John (Donna); Perry (Janet); Sherry (Frank) Waters and Barbara (John) Gorczyca. Dear grandmother of Jay (Kate) Mehrhoff, Carrie Mehrhoff, Doug (Maggie) Ackenhausen, Tom (Shannon) Ackenhausen, Michele Steger, Andrew (Megan) Steger, Erin (Jason) Adelsberger, Kellie Gallagher, Johnna Wishnask, Joshua Mehrhoff, Shawn Mehrhoff, Lacey (Justin) Hesse, Harrison (Breanna) Waters, Ryan (fiancé Makenzi) Gorczyca, and Amanda Hood. Loving great-grandmother of 20. Dear sister of the late Mae Repking and Shirley Schweitzer. Eleanor is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Behrendt, her godchildren, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Our “Main Lady” will live forever in our hearts. She never met a stranger and she was generous to a fault. She endeared herself to everyone she met. Fern, as she was known, was always the first one to help out and to add her cooking, cleaning and decorating talents to the task. She held some part time jobs in her life, but her main job to her was raising and caring for her family. A day didn’t go by that she wasn’t checking in on her 7 kids and their families. She was all about LOVE and caring for others, and giving selflessly of herself. She never went to college or had a fancy job, but in her mind, she had the best job in the world and that was being a Mother!Eleanor loved to spend time with her family, go to church, volunteer, travel, shop and go to lunch with her daughters, and play bingo. She was a very, very special lady and always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evelyn’s House (Hospice).
