Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Short of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 74 on Friday, August 21, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank W. Nelson and Dorothy "Dottie" G. Jenkins; and her brother, Stevie "Caboose" W. Nelson.
Betty Lou is survived by her children, Kimberly Dawn (Kyle) Stahlschmidt, Timothy Michael (Susan) Short, and Michelle "Shelly" Marie Steiner; her grandchildren, Kara Marie Stahlschmidt and Grace Elizabeth Steiner; her sister, Beckey Ann (Brian) Scott; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunt.
Betty Lou was employed at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing and enjoyed a successful career there for nearly 50 years. She was active in many local organizations including Women of Moose Lodge 1791, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2866, American Legion Auxiliary Post 312, the Women’s Chapter of the Eagle’s Lodge, and Machinists Union District 9 (Aerospace Local Lodge 837).
Above everything, Betty Lou loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with her beloved family. Betty Lou was a social butterfly who enjoyed meeting and spending time with people. Everyone always treasured her for her kind, welcoming personality. For fun, Betty Lou liked to play bingo and travel – she looked forward to traveling to various destinations that she’d take with her friends and the memories they’d make together. Betty Lou had several close friends who appointed her as an honorary mother and nana to their family; she loved them like they were her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
