Diekamp, Elmer, of St. Charles, MO, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Lorene Diekamp; cherished son of the late Arthur and Selma Diekamp; devoted father of Karen (Jeff) Hitchcock and the late Kathy Lynn Diekamp; loving grandfather of Kathrin (Peter) Thomsen and Mathew (Janelle) Hitchcock; treasured great-grandfather of Isaac, Elizabeth, Lillian, and Judah; dear brother of Louise (Virgil) Gravemann.
Elmer was preceded in death by his siblings: Herbert Diekamp, Alvera Schmidt, Verna Schwede, Evelyn Kyle, Arthur Diekamp, Jr., Alice Gravemann, Dorothy Mallinckrodt, and Leona Mallinckrodt.
Elmer was a farmer for most of his life, which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ where he enjoyed singing the in the choir and playing his accordion. He volunteered at RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) entertaining at nursing homes. Music was Elmer’s passion, and he played the accordion, guitar, and harmonica. He also enjoyed traveling. Throughout his life, he visited all 50 states, as well as Europe and the Caribbean. He also liked going camping and to the Branson Music Shows. Elmer’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
