Elsie "Nova" Bowman

Elsie “Nova” Bowman (nee Miller), of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the age of 95. Loving wife of the late Carsten E. Bowman; beloved daughter of the late William A. and Mary W. Miller; devoted mother of Kathleen Wynne, Donna (Mark) Lewis, and Timothy (Tara) Bowman; treasured grandmother of Kristin (Andy) Cento, Kathryn Wynne, Julia Lewis, Nicole (Tavish) Misra, Zachary Bowman, and Jared Bowman, treasured great-grandmother of Sophie Wynne; dear sister of the late Clora (Cliff) Kramer.  

Nova was an educator who taught at Fort Zumwalt School District for many years until she retired in 1992, but continued to volunteer in her spare time until the age of 90. Nova attended St. Mary’s Jr. College and was part of the Phi Thea Kappa sorority, she continued her education at Lindenwood College where she received her Bachelor's and was part of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.   

Nova was a woman of faith attending various Assembly of God Churches throughout her life where she served as the Sunday School superintendent, played the piano, organ, and accordion. She served for many years as the church treasurer and bookkeeper. Late in life, she was part of the church’s Prime Timer’s group activities. 

Nova loved genealogy, she could often be found knitting, crocheting or reading. She and her husband enjoyed fishing together. Nova will be remembered for her loving and caring nature, and her commitment to Christ and love of teaching. Nova was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Memorials may be made in Nova's name to Restoration Church, St. Peters, St. Charles County Library District, or Missouri Department of Conservation.
