Elsie Marie Koenig, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at the age of 88. Loving wife of the late Robert A. Koenig; beloved daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Hunt; devoted mother of Frank (Sandy) Koenig, Vicky (Larry) Colson, Shelly (Robert) Griggs, Kim (Brian) Hutton, and Gary (Vicki) Koenig; cherished grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 18; dear sister of Frances (the late Tom) McGrath; sister-in-law of Don Kramer. Elsie is also preceded in death by her infant son, Craig Joseph Koenig and sister, Dorothy Kramer.
Elsie met the love of her life, Robert, at a high school baseball game. They had a beautiful, loving marriage and raised five wonderful children. They enjoyed traveling to Minnesota with their kids every year to vacation at a family-owned resort. When Robert retired they were able to travel and go on some cruises.
Elsie was a devout Catholic and member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for more than 25 years. She was a fabulous wife and homemaker who cherished her family and taking care of them. She was a great cook, and everyone loved her brisket, fried chicken, and turkey stuffing; everything was made from scratch and no short-cuts.
In her spare time, Elsie enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels, which some of her favorites were by Stephen King and John Grisham. She also liked curling up on the couch and watching Dancing with the Stars, Dateline, or other forensic mystery shows. She also loved to shop and find amazing styles for herself and her family.
More than anything, Elsie truly loved and always looked forward to spending time with her kids and grandkids. She made the holidays a remarkable time for everyone. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial contributions may be made in Elsie's name to the
Alzheimer's Association.
