Hackmann, Elvera “Babe” of St. Paul, MO, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on May 19, 2010 at the age of 92. Babe was born on Dec. 2, 1917 to Frank and Agnes (nee: Hoeckelmann) Hackmann. Throughout her life, she served as Executive Director of the St. Charles County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office, this is currently known as FSA Agency, for 48 years. Babe served on the Foundation Board Annual Fund and was past President of the Advisory Board and Auxiliary Board of St. Joseph Health Center, Hospital West. She received the Woman of the Year award in 1990 from the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and the Humanitarian Excellence Award of St. Charles County in 1997 from the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce. Babe served on the O’Fallon Volunteer Fire Board Planning Committee and the Advisory Committee for First State Bank of O’Fallon. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she participated in the Ladies Sodality, and St. Paul Quilters. Babe was also very active in her community of St. Paul where she served on the St. Paul Planning and Zoning Committee. Babe was an SSM Hospice volunteer for many years along with numerous clubs and organizations. Babe was preceded in death by her Brother and Sister In-Law, Albert and Rosanne (nee: McMenamy) Hackmann, and her Special Friend, Art Sachs. She is survived by many cousins, friends and caregivers who will truly miss her. Services: The family is being served by The Baue Funeral Home, 311 Wood Street, O'Fallon, MO. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1223 Church Road, St. Paul, MO. Honoring Babe’s wishes, there will not be a visitation held but a rosary will be prayed in memory of Babe on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the church prior to funeral mass. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses, SSM Hospice or St. Paul Catholic Church.
