Emmett E. Drowns, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Sunday February 25, 2018, at the age of 89. Loving husband of 58 years to the late Dorothy I. Drowns; devoted father of Karen (Jerry) Dickey, Hazel (Roger) Schone, and Tim (Tina) Drowns; cherished grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of 28 and great-great grandfather of 13. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Hazel Drowns, son James Drowns, daughter Deborah Kannady and daughter-in-law Diane Drowns.

Emmett proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II where he was a part of the 509 Atomic Bomb Group. Emmett retired from McDonnell Douglas after working there 33 years. He loved playing gospel and country music and shared his love of music by playing his guitar at area nursing homes. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating and had a club house in Winfield on the Mississippi River. He was a proud and amazing grandpa that was very close to his children. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to sing. He was the most generous, caring and loving person. Emmett was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
