Eric Seider

April 23, 1967 — July 25, 2024

St. Charles, Missouri

Eric Seider (1967 – 2024), IT guru, political sideline correspondent, Chiefs football and St Louis City SC soccer fan, and lover of all animals, except birds, left this earth on July 25, 2024.

Eric was born on April 23rd, 1967, to Al and Rita Seider and was later joined by his favorite little sister, Jill, who he lovingly referred to as Bo or Sis. He attended Affton High School where he played football, pranks, and sang in the church choir. He married Melissa Peyton, and they had a daughter, Abbey. He studied at MidAmerica Nazarene and University of Missouri St. Louis. He went on to work at BJC, MO Bap. and then the St. Louis Post Dispatch, where he worked for over 29 years as the Sr. Director of IT and Telecommunications and where he met the love of his life, Diane in 1999. Together they joined their families and Abbey had instant siblings: Ryan, Taylor, and Amber.

Eric and Diane loved to travel together. They got married in Maine and that set the tone for travel throughout their marriage. Together and with their family they visited many US states, as well as Mexico, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Curacao and most recently Spain and France.

Eric was fiercely passionate about the things he cared for which included his family, education, and his community. Eric served on the Francis Howell School board, worked with various community organizations, and attended/volunteered at every band competition and horse show for all his kids. The election cycle was his Olympics and election day was his FAVORITE holiday. He loved talking politics with any and all who would engage him. One of his kids’ fondest memories is their dad taking them to the Barack Obama Rally in St. Louis in 2008.

Everything above sounds serious, but Eric was not a serious guy. He loved to tell jokes, send memes, and play pranks to embarrass his friends and family. Eric once dropped his daughter and her friend off at their first concert alone and when he came to pick them up, he shimmied out of his truck’s sunroof, jumping and yelling /singing while waving his arms even though the kids had already spotted him. He chuckled all the way home to himself while the 2 preteens died in the backseat.

Above all else, Eric was a giver and a lover. Those who have come over to a gathering with Eric know he would be up before sunrise to start cooking and would make enough food to feed an army. Everyone had to eat seconds (and hopefully thirds) if Eric was in charge. His family knew they didn’t need to set an alarm because the slap chop would be chopping and shaking the whole house pre-dawn.

Eric was the best dad around and made sure his kids, family, and friends knew how much he loved them. He will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Seider and is survived by his father, Al Seider, his sister, Jill Seider-Wing, his wife, Diane Seider, his kids Ryan Stanton (Tabby Stanton), Abbey Bretzler (Ben Bretzler), Taylor Stanton (Colter Gonzalez), and Amber Rollins along with his nieces and nephews.
