Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. World renowned artist, Ernest H. Avery, Jr. passed away on Friday, April 21, 2006. Born in Nyack, New York on July 10, 1930 to Ernest H. Avery, Sr. and Ida B. (nee: Brown) Avery. Ernest is survived by his loving and devoted wife, 3 adult children, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. Having served as president of the Oak Leaf Artist's Guild in St. Peters for several years, teaching a variety of art classes at St. Charles Community College and for the St. Charles School District, kept the National Vendors retiree in high spirits. Known for his powerful and hauntingly relevant paintings, Ernest always had a smile so warm that it could light up a room. His passing came as a shock to those who knew him as ''superman''. He will be remembered for his passion for gourmet cooking, portraiture, classical music and the profound love he had for his family and friends. Ernest's melodic voice and boisterous laughter were always a source of comfort and strength to all those who knew him. He will forever be loved and missed.
