September 20, 1934 — May 26, 2022
Erwin Matthew “Bud” Dix of St. Peters, Missouri, formerly St. Louis, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the age of 87. Loving husband of the late Norma L. Dix (nee Braun); beloved son of the late Clarence and Sarah Dix; devoted father of Erwin Dix, Jr and Susan Wagy; cherished grandfather of Heather Wagy. Erwin was born September 20, 1934, in St. Louis, and lived in Wellston, Jennings, Florissant, and St. Peters throughout his life. As a young boy he sold newspapers on the street corner until age 7, then he worked at his parents’ confectionary store through his early years on Easton Ave in Wellston. Erwin married his love, Norma, on September 4, 1954, and they celebrated 48 years together. They took a special and memorable anniversary trip to Hawaii. Erwin went to night school at Ranken Tech to earn a degree in Tool & Die. He was a machinist his whole life until he retired. He was a member of IAM District 9 Machinist Union, Local Lodge 777, with a start date of November 1, 1955 and was a member for more than 50 years. He was also very proud to tell everyone that his granddaughter is now a vested member of the same union. In his earlier years, Erwin loved hunting quail and fishing with his family dog, Brandy. He named his boat Norsue in honor of his wife and daughter. He believed knowledge is power, and he liked to read and study history, and would spend hours a day in his books. He enjoyed painting with oils in his spare time. He also loved cooking and baking, especially bread. Erwin was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be cremated and spread out around the U.S. since he loved to travel and visit historical sites. Memorial contributions may be made in Erwin's name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Baue Funeral Homes is currently following CDC recommendations regarding mask and social distancing policies.
