Eugene "Gene" Weston Clower, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the age of 102. Loving husband of Naomi Arado; beloved son of the late Walter and Sarah Clower; devoted father of Greg (Maria) Clower, Karen (John) Addison; stepfather to Linda (Dale) Schuk, Bette (Raj) Arado, and Mark (Tammy) Arado; cherished grandfather of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; uncle, cousin and friend to many; Gene is also preceded in death by his two sisters, Margaret Barnett and Catherine Smith. The family would like to say a special thank you to Ruth Shirley for her kind words, cards and always keeping a smile on Gene's face.
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He served on the U.S.S. LST-357, U.S.S. LST-822, YP-601 and the N.T.S., earning the American Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal for World War II. He then dedicated his time as a Physics Professor.
Gene was very active. He enjoyed running, swimming, and biking in his free time. Gene could light up a room with his dancing and smile. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and would often go to events and dances at the VFW. During the winter, Gene and Naomi spent their time in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Gene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Genes's name to New Hope Resource Center through Morning Star Church.
